Wider Angle, Lower Cost
Theia’s ultra wide angle lens was recently specified in a California school district security system allowing the district to save money on the overall cost of installation and maintenance. With Theia’s 135° horizontal FOV lens, fewer cameras were needed to image the same area, enabling the high school to replace 170 analog cameras with 40 megapixel cameras. Fewer cameras means less cabling and other peripherals at installation, fewer screens to monitor, and a smaller, simpler system to maintain for a lower total cost of ownership.

135° FOV, No Fisheye Distortion
Distortion correction is achieved optically using Theia’s patented Linear Optical Technology. Barrel distortion (also known as fisheye distortion) causes information at the edges of the image to be compressed and lost. The information is unrecoverable through software. Theia’s rectilinear lens increases the ease of detection and identification at the edges of the image using optical distortion correction. No software is required!

Unlike a fisheye lens which only illuminates about 2/3 of the image sensor (leaving 1/3 of the pixels dark), the image from Theia’s lens completely covers the image sensor.
 Award winning technology
Theia’s ultra wide, no distortion lenses won the Security Industry Association’s (SIA’s) Special Achievement in Innovation award at the ISC West show in April 2008 and Security Sales and Integration (SSI) magazine’s Show Stealer award at ISC East in September 2007.

About Theia Technologies
Theia Technologies designs, manufactures and sells ultra wide-angle rectilinear lenses for Surveillance, Critical Infrastructure, Military, under-Vehicle, and Machine Vision applications. Our award winning technology provides up to 135° field of view with very low distortion. Patented optical distortion correction improves the image resolution over typical lenses giving a better image. Theia was founded in 2006 to develop Linear Optical Technology and has several issued and pending US and foreign patents for lens technologies. |

Kevin Mayer, CTO of Lumenera says
"We have been looking for a lens to match the capabilities of Lumenera's new LE575 5MPix surveillance cameras. Theia's lens is perfect for digital pan-tilt-zoom. Theia's lenses provide a sharp image and cover a wide field of view with very low distortion, thus eliminating the need for image de-warping software as with fish-eye lenses, and helps to reduce the camera count. I was very impressed!"
Paul Bodell, CMO of IQinVision says
"IQinVision has evaluated hundreds of lenses for quality and compatibility with our IQeye megapixel network cameras and found Theia's wide angle lenses provide excellent resolution and picture quality. Using the IQeye with Theia's wide angle lens lets you replace mechanical PTZ units or cover a large area with just a few cameras. It's important to note that all wide angle lenses are NOT created equal-Theia offers best-in-class quality."
