Theia Tech awarded a subcontract by Northrop Grumman as part of DARPA's CT2WS program

May 27th:  Wilsonville, OR
Theia Technologies, the world leader in ultra wide rectilinear lenses, has been awarded a subcontract by Northrop Grumman Mission Systems as part of a prime contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to provide advanced optical research and development for the Cognitive Technology Threat Warning System (CT2WS).

The goal of the CT2WS program is to create a highly intelligent visual threat warning system to reduce fatigue and increase threat awareness for the soldier.  The program brings together Theia’s ultra wide, low distortion lens technology with high density image sensors, cognitive visual processing, and ultra low power signal processing electronics.  A compact optical system will monitor an ultra wide 120deg field of view (FOV).  Areas of interest in the FOV will be automatically selected and presented to the viewer.  Algorithms reviewing the viewer’s EEG signals will learn which areas of interest are potential threats and which are not.  Because the system is not restricted to a small field of view, the CT2WS system increases threat recognition.

“The ability to detect and evaluate threats to soldiers is critical to the success of any security mission.  Because of advancements in rectilinear low distortion optics made by Theia, in combination with other technologies in the CT2WS program, we will be able to improve accuracy and reduce errors when a soldier is scanning for threats,” said Mark Peterson, Theia’s Vice President of Advanced Technology.
