Dome enclosures

Most 6" and larger dome housings are compatible with Theia's lens. You may find several dome cameras listed on the compatible cameras list. If you are looking for an alternate or a housing that is not offered from the camera manufacutrer, Theia has tested and recommends the following domes:

Videolarm: FDW75 series and similar 7" domes. Also purchase the 20-LN8 dome liner to control stray light.
This pendant housing is available from many manufacutrers under their own brand names. If the dome housing is 6" or larger, the Theia lenses will fit in the dome.

Pelco: DF5 and DF8 pendant housings.

Arecont: 5" recessed dome and Arecont's 6" dome.

Some examples of larger domes, 6" and greater: Wren EG8.

Tube and Box enclosures

Due to Theia's ultra wide field of view (all wide angle lenses will have this issue) the lens must be moved as close to the front glass as possible (without touching) to minimize the view of the inside of the enclosure. Most box enclosures still block some of the image. The sunshield can be cropped out of the image vertically in software.

Look for enclosures with large front windows. Side opening enclosures allow convinient access to the camera for accurate mounting. Theia has tested and recommends the following enclosures. This is only a partial list of enclosures.

Videolarm: ACH13 series and similar enclosures.

Panasonic: POH1000 adn POH1500 series of enclosures. Both are available with and without heater/blower.

Pelco: EH1512 outdoor enclosure for the Sarix line of cameras. We recommend mounting the Pelco camera upside down to lower the lens in the enclosure and minimize sun visor visibility. No need to invert the image in the camera software in this case.

Axis: Fixed housings. Axis offers indoor (21899), outdoor (24899), and wireless (29892) housings.

Aigis: HS9484 and HS9484-BUB. A large tube with flat and bulb windows respectively. The -BUB option is not listed in their catalog but is available by special request from Aigis.

Aigis: Extra large series and similar tube enclosures with large front windows.

Videotec: HEB box has a large front window and adjustable sun shield.

Below are a few pictures showing the effect of a box enclosure (Videolarm ACH13 type enclosure) on the image. With the SY110 lens, the smaller field of view allows the enclosure sun shield to easily be cropped from the image without much loss of vertical field of view. With the SY125 lens (and every other ultra wide angle lens), the top of the enclosure is seen in the image. The image may still be cropped vertically without affecting the horizontal field of view or horizontal resolution.

The amount of enclosure seen depends on the exact chip size of the camera. The Axis and IQ cameras have slightly different chip sizes so the field of veiw is slightly different in the left two images even though the lens is the same. Axis is a typical 1/3" chip whereas the IQ camera is a typical 1/2.5" chip (most manufacturers call their 5MPix cameras 1/2" even though the chip size is 1/2.5").
