Lens calculator
Theia's ultra wide angle lenses are designed for those applications requiring wide fields of view or those which have limited camera to object distance. We offer an online version (below) as well as an Excel version and a graph for quick calculations. The latter two can be found at the bottom of this page.
All input fields in yellow are changeable. Green fields are results. If the field of veiw of your lens for instance doesn't match the default HFOV, you may change it by entering a new number. Also, if your camera has a different chip size, you can choose the chip size from the drop down box (after choosing camera resolution).
With Theia's Linear Optical Technology lenses, image resolution for objects along a plane (perpendicular to the camera) is constant even though the objects are farther away from the camera at the image edges. For instance, the person in the image center at 20 feet distance is 37 pixels/ft. At the edge of the image (SY110 lens in this case), the person is still 37 pixels/ft but they are 40 feet away from the camera. Other wide angle lenses will decrease image resolution as the object moves to the edge of the image. For more information, read about Theia's Linear Optical Technology

Theia's lens calculator helps determine the lens and camera combination for a particular application. For a desired camera to object distance, field of view, or image resolution, the calculator will calculate the other two values. This calculator requires Excel or a spreadsheet program that can translate Excel.

As an alternate, Theia provides charts that should allow an installer to calculate the image resolution and field of view for given camera installation distance without the use of Excel.
